Week 3 doing Insanity Asylum has come and gone! Still feeling addicted to it! Even when it's supposed to be a day off (Rest Day) or a day of Relief (Stretching), I feel like I still want to do one of the workouts. There has been a few rough days, such as Day 19 when I was slightly hungover and had to do Gameday plus Overtime. Not only is Gameday "killler" (My new favorite word as evidenced by the attached video), but adding another 15 minutes of Overtime to the already 60 minutes of Gameday was highly difficult on this such day! I did get through it though and felt like I was gonna puke good when it was done. Still not eating and drinking like I want to be. Somedays when I get a good work out in, my brain tricks me into thinking I deserve a reward or something. This ends up being a high calorie tasty beer or a bowl of ice cream. Not good! I will keep trying to improve on the diet! As you can see in the video, I've been having a post workout protein shake. These are really tasty and help me to recover a bit after a "killer" workout!
Day 15- Speed & Agility
Day 16- Vertical Plyo
Day 17- Strength
Day 18- Relief
Day 19- Gameday plus Overtime
Day 20- Vertical Plyo
Day 21- Back To Core
I just completed the 2nd week of Insanity Asylum and am happy to be about half way done. The workouts are still very tough, but also super addicting! There was a day or two that I really didn't want to do it, but I haven't missed a day yet. Because it's summer time and I don't work in the summer, it's been tough to stick to a strict diet of eating healthy and not drinking to many adult beverages. I need to work on that, otherwise I may not get the results I am working so hard for. Either way, I feel amazing after each workout!
I hope you follow me down my path to Insanity!!! Insanity Asylum that is. Here are my "Before" pics, taken the day before I started the 30 day Insanity Asylum Workout. Got a shot from the front, side and the back. You are also supposed to take body measurements on day 1 and day 30, and do a fit test on day 1 and day 30. Here are the pics:

Well, I survived the first week of Insanity Asylum and didn't miss a workout. A few things that I noticed: 1) I have never sweat so much in my life...and I am not a sweater! 2) I have never drank so much water in my life....I guess that goes hand in hand with the sweating 3) I am addicted to Asylum right now...I love how I feel after the workout is over. Well here is a breakdown of the week.
The first seven days of Insanity Asylum workouts are:
Day 1: Speed & Agility
Day 2: Strength
Day 3: Back to Core
Day 4: Vertical Plyo
Day 5 Rest Day
Day 6: Speed & Agility
Day 7: Strength
Let me sum it up for you. I love Speed & Agility and Back to Core. I find them to be the easiest and that is why I love them. Don't get me wrong, these are still pretty dang hard workouts, but relatively speaking, they are the easiest in my opinion. Strength is sort of in the middle. The killer for me this week was the Vertical Plyo workout. In this workout you are basically jumping all over the place for a good 45 minutes. Day 4 was Vertical Plyo, and Day 5 was a rest day. I could barely move on Day 5 because my legs were so sore. I can see why it's a rest day, since I could barely walk. No pain, no gain...right???
So after week 1, I feel like I am seeing some results. You won't see any "After" pics until the 30 days are up.
I decided that this summer I am going to take the 30 Day Insanity Asylum Challenge. For a few weeks in May, I have been doing some of Insanity Asylum workouts with a co-worker who introduced me to it. I had heard of Insanity and P90X, but never really knew or cared what it was. After doing a few of the workouts with my work buddy, I started to get addicted to it and wanted more. There were a few reasons for this, and the main being that the workout wasn't too long (typically about 45 minutes), it definitely wasn't boring, and I was getting results! I decided that I was going to bite the bullet and order my own Insanity Asylum, and do the 30 day challenge on my summer break.
I ordered the Insanity Asylum Program from the official website (here). Although it's not super cheap (costs about $100), I felt that it was totally worth it!!! Oh and I am a cheapskate for sure! For the money, you get 6 different workouts on DVDs and they are Speed and Agility, Vertical Plyo, Relief, Strength, Game Day, and Back To Core. You also get an Athletic Performance Assessment DVD (you take it before you do the program and after to see how you have improved), and an Overtime DVD (this is a 15 minute workout that you can add to the end of any of the workouts if you are feeling a little crazy!) You also get an agility ladder, a speed rope (jump rope), a workout calendar, a step by step guide to how the program works, and a Nutrition Plan book with suggestions on how to eat and with some recipes.
